One of the most important things I'm learning to do as a woman is to love myself. You always hear "you have to love yourself before you can love someone else.". To me this is true because if you don't love yourself I believe you'll get lost in the relationship. I also believe that it is equally important to know yourself and once you know who you are you can love who you are. Over the past few days I've been reading "The Book of Understanding: Creating Your Own Path to Freedom" by Osho. This book brings to me a light, an eye opener, a reality that is not being taught in some homes. It's helping to understand who I really am and not who I've been programmed to be and believe.
"Do things with your whole heart, with as much intensity as you are capable of. Anything done halfheartedly never brings joy to life. It only brings misery, anxiety, torture, and tension, because whenever you do anything halfheartedly you are dividing yourself into two parts, and that is one of the greatest calamities that has happened to human beings-they are all split."
This made me examine myself and ask am I living my life with my whole heart? The answer is "No." It's a challenge. It's not easy, but I love a challenge and am all for improving myself. I believe that when you are born you are given everything you need to survive. You are pure and the mind untouched ready to create its own analysis...but, people began to impose their beliefs onto you and now, you are torn in so many directions. You began to lose your true self. It becomes difficult to undo what's already been done. Religious teachings are now embedded. Moral standards, school lessons, societies measures of a great person, what is expected from you at work, and the thoughts and opinions of family and friends and so much more. In the midst of all this, where are you? Your free spirit? Your true opinions?
Also, I've been introduce by a friend to Shahrazad Ali. It's pretty old this ladies teachings and books, but they still apply today and I love her fire! I've been watching her all week. You take a look and I would love to hear your opinions on what you think about her message.
